Safe Inspect 1.4.0 Release Notes

Welcome to Safe Inspect 1.4.0!

The Intermediate Certificate that we use for Safe Inspect expires on the 4th February 2022. This release addresses the extension of this expiry date. The release dates for this new version are the 24th January 2022, starting at 5:00 pm AEST (ANZ) and 25th January 2022, starting at 5:00 pm AEST (USA).

Connect for Windows 3.2.1

Welcome to Connect for Windows release 3.2.1!

This release primarily addresses an issue with the Connect for Windows v3.2.0 release that stopped some Windows laptops from authenticating “On Network”. We will be rolling this update to all users automatically from today (20th of January 2022, starting at 5:00 pm AEST). We strongly encourage you to ensure that all Windows devices using Connect have been updated to 3.2.1.

Welcome to Connect for Windows release 3.2.0!

This release primarily addresses support for verdict V3 in the Linewize Connect for Windows agent. We will be rolling this update to all users automatically from today (19th of January 2022, starting at 3:00 pm AEST). We strongly encourage you to ensure that all Windows devices using Connect have been updated to 3.2.0.

We’re fixing an issue in this release that stopped YouTube from functioning correctly with Force Safe Search mode. The Linewize Connect for Windows agent will now poll for updates every five minutes instead of every 30 seconds. Lastly, we’re also updating the routine icons for consumer accounts to be inline with our mobile application.

This is a small but important release that updates several packages in the Linewize Connect for macOS agent that may have been susceptible to the log4j vulnerability. We will be rolling this update to all users automatically from today (24th of December 2021 at 2:30 pm AEST). We strongly encourage you to ensure that all macOS devices using Connect have been updated to 2.5.3.

This release also marks the removal of the agent’s icon from the macOS Dock.

This is a small but important release that updates several packages in the Linewize Connect for Windows agent that may have been susceptible to the log4j vulnerability. We will be rolling this update to all users automatically from today (23rd of December 2021, starting at 2:30 pm AEST). We strongly encourage you to ensure that all Windows devices using Connect have been updated to 3.1.2.

We’re also fixing an issue in this release that stopped the text-to-speech Chrome plugin Co.Writer from working when Man in the Middle (MITM) is enabled.

Welcome to Connect for Windows release 3.1.1!

New Features and Improvements

• We’ve made some big improvements to the refresh rate of student tiles. Student tiles should update up to three times more frequently and more regularly than before!
• We renamed the Connect Windows service from "Family Zone Filter Client System Service" to "Network Connection Services".

Fixes

• We fixed a couple of issues that could occur on Student Activated Devices (SAD) that could stop them from sending screenshots to Classwize or using the proxy filter correctly.
• The DNS server address could get stuck when the user changed between networks, with the agent trying to use the user’s previous or home network DNS address instead of the school’s network. 
• When DNS filtering was disabled, the secondary DNS server address wasn’t being restored to its original, pre-filtering value.
